Fresh off of recertification by the Commission for the Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies, the Marietta Police Department will receive a grant from Georgia’s Office of Highway Safety. The $55,533 will go towards combatting aggressive driving such as distracted and impaired driving, pedestrian accidents, and also for educational materials on the subject.
The Atlanta Journal/Constitution reports that Marietta Police Chief Dan Flynn accepted the grant claiming, “Together we can do a better job of keeping our community safe.” He believes that maintaining roadway rules is a large part of the force’s commitment to public safety.
